Tri-State Performers holds auditions for “No Pluto? No Problem!”
The Tri-State Performers, the museum theatre troupe of the Tri-State Museum and Visitor Center, will hold auditions for its space science comedy “No Pluto? No Problem!” on Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1 from 6-8 p.m.
“No Pluto? No Problem!” tells of the passengers on the Nix, a spaceship from Pluto which is speeding to Earth to talk to the astronomers who demoted Pluto. Queen Charon, Dr. Maven, librarian Miss Ammonia, reporter Tyson Kuiper, teacher Mrs. Tombaugh, plus students and crew members discuss the planetary issues and what the last flyby of Pluto uncovered. Will the astronomers listen to them?
There are 10+ roles for students in K-9th grade, with leading roles for middle school students. No prior theatre experience is required; students will read from the script during auditions.
Rehearsals are Sunday-Thursday, from 6-8 p.m., April 6-24, Performances are Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 at 2 p.m.

Tri-State Performers present science comedy “No Pluto? No Problem!” The Tri-State Performers, the museum theatre troupe of the Tri-State Museum and Visitor Center, will present a science comedy on Friday, April 25 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 at 2 p.m. The play is approximately 45 minutes in length and is suitable for the entire family. The play takes place aboard the Nix, a Plutonian spaceship speeding to Earth in hopes of getting Earth astronomers to change their decision to make Pluto a dwarf planet. In addition to the ship’s crew, librarian Miss Violet Ammonia, astronomer Dr. Maven, reporter Tyson Kuiper, a visitor from Mars and students and a teacher from the Freeze City Elementary School are aboard. “There are 13 actors in the production, ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade,” said director Kristi Thielen, “and all have learned about the science related to Pluto – especially the new information obtained from the 2015 NASA flyby of Pluto. So, there’s science for the audience to learn, but also a lot of humor to enjoy.” Admission to each performance is $2 per person or free with museum membership.
